Je puise mon inspiration hors du design

Posted on 6 avril 2012

YOU WORK ON A VERY SPECIFIC DESIGN, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE IT ?

What I try to achieve is to create objects that touch people, that make them wonder, think or smile. Objects that people love to use and have around them, and that adds something special to their daily routine. Every project tells a different story, but the essence of most of my project is to play around and stir people’s imagination. Imagine a light object where you could pick off elements of light. Imagine a wardrobe closet that is nothing more but a pile of suitcases of which you can just take one off, jump on a plane and leave everything behind forever. Imagine furniture like giant bacteria that grow instead of being made. Some projects can communicate an experience or a feeling that I believe is meaningful to other people as well. Other project can be more about the production process behind the object, they can be a reaction on or a transformation of an existing process. Sometimes a project can simply be about adding new or unexpected functions to rather common objects around us, or about smart and relevant improvements of what is already there.

Q – VOUS VOUS PLACEZ DANS UNE ECOLE DE CONCEPTION PARTICULIERE, QUELLES SONT VOS INFLUENCES ?

YOU ASSUME TO BE PART OF A VERY SPECIFIC DESIGN TREND, WHAT ARE YOUR INFLUENCES?

I do not assume to be part of any specific trend, I hope to find my own way apart of any tendencies or trends. I like to find inspiration from where ever I can get it, whether it be art, architecture, science, fashion,… I’m always extremely satisfied by discovering the work of artists that I can truly relate to, that really touch me, make me think, and stick in my head for the next few days. Sometimes I get inspired by something I see in nature or on the streets, it could be a scene from a book or a movie, and other times it can be a kind of packaging material I discover at the local hardware store.

Q – VOUS SITUEZ VOUS DANS UN ECOSYSTEME ? SI OUI QUEL EST IL ?

WOULD YOU SAY YOU ARE A PART OF A PARTICULAR ECOSYSTEM ? IF YES WHICH ONE?

I am definitely part of the ecosystems of Planet Earth, Europe and Brussels, in respective order. Or what do you mean exactly?
